July is the month for celebrating our Independence as a nation, enjoying plenty of sunshine and taking a real vacation from school or work! Our restaurants offer wonderful food and our breweries, wineries and distilleries have some top-notch refreshment. Our artists are prolific and offer art lessons and workshops as well as exhibitions. Beginners Stained Glass Workshop. Did you ever wonder how stained glass was made? Artist Pati Brennan will teach you to cut glass and you will make a small glass panel from start to finish! July Jubilation! Come to a festival at Hazel River Arts and Antiques featuring an exhibit by Old Rag Photography. From 11-1 pm Carole Pivarnik is demonstrating water color techniques and 1-3 pm enjoy a textile demo of hooking rugs by Sally Mello and a book-signing by Prickly Roses author Joyce Abell. Painting in the Park. Participate in a full day “painting in the park” seminar with well-known artist, Kevin Adams. Begin your morning with learning special techniques, then take a short hike to Blackrock and start painting. In the afternoon, paint another piece with Big Meadows as your backdrop. Farmer’s market with bluegrass music and local vendors and artisans offering fresh organic vegetables, artisanal breads and meats, dried herbs & spices, micro greens and herbs, natural beauty products, jewelry, botanical prints, and from The Inn, pulled pork BBQ, baked goods, jams, pickles and more! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Rappahannock Food Pantry. 10 am – 2 pm
